RE: Best places to buy RV

Best place is where the RV is that you want :)
Really depends on what you want to do on your own. Individual seller is used, as is, set up own financial, extended warranty, and own fraud guard.
Dealer: PDI, new, warranty (varies) financial and other arrangements handled by dealer. Can vary by dealer both good, bad and indifferent but you are dealing with something regulated by a political entity and has a reputation you can check out.
Good luck.

RE: Good Sam Forum ???

RV.net is freezing and I have to close using "task manager" and Good Sam is down for me. Their "new" sites are doing a number on me on two separate computers and Internet systems.

RE: Breaking

Check to be sure you do not have a leaking axle seal that has oiled a shoe. Happened to us and we lost one side of the rear.

We have replaced all of our amber clearance lights. Make sure you seal the new ones. It is an easy project.

RE: 09 Winnebago Journey or Jayco Seneca input please?

My son currently has the 06(?) 3 slide version Seneca and just traded for a new full slide bath and a half Seneca. To pick it up end of July. He gets over 10 mpg towing a tandem tow dolly with a golf cart and Jeep CJ and close to 12 mpg without. I think it is a good value for the price point. He likes it well enough to stay brand loyal. He got almost 30% off retail by buying on line.
I have driven it some and it is very drivable and easier to handle than our motorhome with an excellent turning radius.

RE: Stench

We eliminated cigar odor (mine) when I quit smoking by getting a dehumidifier and really drying out the RV. Seems getting everything to a high humidity and removing the humidity can make a difference. Removing the moisture takes the odor with it. Good luck.

RE: RV engine repair in North Florida

Post your review at RV Service Reviews Good smaller non franchise shops are harder to find and usually a lot less expensive and personal than the larger repair points.

RE: Cummins or Cat. Diesel

We have put close to 200,000 miles on a CAT and are satisfied with their performance. We belong to the CAT RV Club and they give a lot of support.
However we are not "die hard" CAT fans and feel the Cummins engine line up is on par with CAT's current line up. Either brand of engine will give excellent service in a motorhome application.

RE: Drain Maintenance

Go to a hardware or other store such as Wal Mart and get a plunger. Get the one that is under $5. They are environmentally friendly and do not harm rubber seals. What you pull out may not be very pretty but expect at least 10 years of use before you have to replace it. We have had to purchase two in 30 years of RV'ing.

RE: Direct TV v/s Dish TV Satellite ... Opinions???

We and my son have Direct TV. We have used it at home and in the motorhome for 11+ years and recommend them as a provider. Their satellite is at a higher angle so the chances of signal blockage by trees or other objects is lower. If you get a message to call extension 7__ because your motorhome dish was not pointed at the satellite it can be reauthorized without talking to anyone in less than one minute. No experience with DISH.

RE: Battery Restore

Battery Equalization is proven over the years and recommended by the inverter companies and battery manufacturers.
I would like to know if using mineral oil to reduce evaporation of the water in batteries and equalization are compatible?

RE: Food color in carpet

We have used carpet cleaner with oxyclean (IE Resolve with Oxyclean) on our carpet for organic based stains with excellent results. It also removed water stains from our ceiling. Comes in a spray bottle readily available.

RE: Found a Wonderful Miracle Product

I have always been advised to use WD40 as a cleaner and it is similar but not as strong as Blaster for cleaning things like our Remco Drive Shaft Disconnect and step pivot points. For lubrication some type of non oily silicone lubricant so it does not attract dirt. We bought some of the Kwikee spray and it seems to work well after the WD40 cleaning. We have also found the silicone lubricant sold at auto parts houses work about the same.

Looks like a take off on the toy hauler door. I think if you are impaired and have a hard time climbing or in a wheelchair would be very convenient.

RE: Gettysburg, here we come

We really enjoyed the trip but would consider a private guided tour form the NPS visitor center instead of the bus tour so you can go at your own pace. The cost is not that much different. They also have self guided tours with recorded narratives. Make time for the musem at the NPS visitor center.

RE: Experiance with truck drivers

Road Rage is an escalation of anger into unsafe actions of which this is a perfect example. Your driving error was taken as aggressive behavior on the truck drivers part and his reaction was excessive and dangerous. Most truck drivers are smart enough and professional enough to stay safe and not do stupid things like this driver.
Just be glad it is over with no injuries or property damage. We have found the average truck driver to be safer and more courteous than most other vehicle drivers.
